Appointed new commander of Russian peacekeeping forces in Karabakh

At the end of September 2020, fighting resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which became a continuation of a long-running conflict and resulted in civilian casualties. The parties attempted a ceasefire several times, but the tripartite agreement reached on the night of 10 November was successful. With the mediation of Moscow, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a complete ceasefire and the exchange of the bodies of the prisoners and the dead. Yerevan also transferred to Baku the Kelbajar and Lachin regions, which had been under the control of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic since 1994 and were not occupied by the Azerbaijani army during the conflict, and part of the Agdam region. In addition, Russian peacekeepers were deployed to the region.
